wash. rinse. repeat. finds Dad Hats at their absolute finest. On the first listen, you'll find yourself immersed in a pop-punk/emo soundscape that feels familiar with hints of newness; a perfect next step in the evolution for the band. Upon further review, however, you'll see that underneath the catchy melodies and the smooth sheen of the production lies a surprisingly dark and emotional commentary.
Still rich with the self-loathing and sarcasm, Dad Hats has managed to interlace their pioneering sound of alternate-tuned guitars, thundering rhythm section, and soaring vocals with topics that are beyond relateable for those who grew up in the scene and now find themselves in the minutae of adulthood and the emotional struggles that come along with it.
You'll for sure sing along to every word, because the songs are just so damn catchy...but if you're really listening, you'll probably instead be screaming along.
Recorded at Costume Party Records in Nashville, TN and mixed by James Paul Wisner (Paramore, Underoath, Dashboard Confessional, Further Seems Forever), wash. rinse. repeat. is a must-have for fans of the genre and a perfect introduction to those who are just discovering the band.
