Biography
Following up on the successful 7" release for Innocent Lovers, which was originally the inaugural title within our 2018 Seven Inch Of The Month series, 27 returned with their first full length album in more than a decade. After the release of 2010's Brittle Divinity, the band has fleshed out their lineup with the addition of Adam McGrath (Cave In, Wear Your Wounds, Nomad Stones) on guitar alongside Ayal Naor and the sisters Christopher, Terri & Maria, and graced us with A Billion Searchlights.
A Billion Searchlights explores every corner of the myriad of sounds that 27 have adapted over the years, starting with the vocoder and synth-heavy album intro Keep Going (Arms Of A Mother), the catchy guitar and vocal hooks on DJ, Set Me Free, and including the rock ballad Blue Moon Diamond. Whereas prior albums might have explored a more consistent musical theme throughout, A Billion Searchlights graces the listener with the sheer breadth of musicianship that 27 is capable of in just one sitting.
The entire Mind Over Matter Records output of 27 has shined through with optimism and hope, which has been a breath of fresh air amongst the ever crumbling socio-political climate that has been our reality for several years now. Their ability to remain steadfastly positive through their music is on full display...in the best possible way.

After re-emerging from their slumber with A Billion Searchlights, 27 also followed up quickly with another new track titled Perfect As You Are, which followed thematically with A Billion Searchlights, and we created a super limited 7" lathe cut with the entire proceeds going toward A Leg To Stand On, which is a non-profit that helps children find mobility solutions when they are faced with limb disabilities.
